As one of the most deprived areas in Scotland with high rates of crime, bad health and unemployment, Raploch seems the unlikely source of a thriving musical scene, but today 470 children are taking music lessons, and it's taking Stirling by storm.

Research carried out in English schools by the London School of Economics has found that banning mobiles from school premises can improve test scores of 16 year-olds by 6.4%.

ChildLine has reported that the number of children calling the charity with concerns about their performance in school has increased massively in the last year.
