A major UK report on employability published by City and Guilds has highlighted the significant role of 'character' in shaping young people's life chances. 'Learning to be Employable: Practical Lessons from research into developing character' brings together the latest research about character and employability. The report proposes a set of 'habits of mind' for employability along with a core set of transferable skills.
In responding to the report; Ronnie Davidson, Chief Executive of Character Scotland said:
"This is the best work we have seen in establishing the case for explicit character development practice with young people in the context of youth employment. We hope that all Developing the Young Workforce stakeholders in Scotland will consider the report for the Scottish context".
