Discovery Award
The discovery award recognises and certifies quality
learning in the exploration of human values and individual character
qualities by young people in post school training or further
education. It may also be used by youth organisations. It is a
method of certification for engagement in learning activities or
experiences where young people have developed an understanding of
human values and character attributes and used this to identify
their strengths and development needs to help enable personal
transition.
We
welcome enquiries from providers of other learning activities to
seek Explorer Award certification for their activity and to make use
of our development services to help extend their reach in Scotland.

Youth Programme
The youth programme is ideal
for working in small groups and can be an excellent assessment
tool for professionals working with young people. Many workers
find it is invaluable as a means to develop a deeper
engagement with a young person to bring to the surface
personal issues and personal barriers that otherwise may not
have been communicated. Developing and understanding values is
essential for employability and helping young people to gain a
better understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Completed
activities can be submitted to Character Education Scotland
for Discovery Award certification.
